Space exploration: Mushrooms, Rockets and Flight!

Space exploration: Mushrooms, Rockets and Flight!

Ideas here came about from space exploration. It was one of my overly developed concepts. I threw as much as I could into the sweater that made me think of space exploration as it stands now. This was made with the idea to take aspects of it out and create a series from it, as my many other overly developed works on clothes.

Mannequin wearing green sweater, with painted art showing solar panels and computer motherboard.

The front I kept the work sitting on top fo the chest. There lies solar panel and a computer's motherboard in the background. I wanted to make it feel robotic in nature.

Back of green sweater, depicting a space shuttle, infused with mushrooms and feathers of a peacock.

The back was inspired by flight, and the beauty of peacock feathers. I added mushrooms that were vibrant and would stick out visually against the green of the sweater. I wanted an earthly feel to it, and I feel greens and browns as a base to paint on is a great place to start.

I also painted Mars, earth, and the moon. Three location we inhabit.

Side profile of green sweater, with a painted nebula on the hood.

Continuing a sense of direction and focus, I painted a nebula on the side of the hoodie. The front design bleeds into the feathers of the back; the design is carried on the shoulders.
